Meet Dr. Alan Orsborn

Compassionate, Nonjudgmental Dental Care

I am here to help, not judge. I understand that each patient comes to me with his or her own dental experiences and some of them may have been negative. I work hard to help patients understand that today’s dentistry is comfortable and a visit is nothing to worry about.

I want my patients to understand they can talk with me about their concerns: I truly listen and strive to understand what they desire. My goal is to develop a long-term relationship with every patient — one based on trust, respect, and open communication.

I feel I am a healer of dental problems and some of the psychological problems that accompany oral health issues. Emotional healing, as well as physical, is always at the forefront of my mind.

Our Team

Dental Health Group is composed of amazing people. Each team member has been here for a long time. They care for and are as concerned about our patients’ needs and comfort as I am. Together, we’ve created an office that’s warm and friendly, where we take time to learn every patient’s concerns and values. We are a private practice so we have the freedom and time to get to know patients as individuals and build relationships.

Dentistry is more than treating teeth; it’s caring for the whole person and helping each individual develop a passion about caring for his or her body and smile!

Education and Continuing Education

I attended Washington State University for my undergraduate studies. Then I enrolled at the University of Washington School of Dentistry, which awarded my Doctorate of Dental Surgery.

In the 30 years I’ve been practicing, our field has changed. Advances in techniques, new materials, and revolutionary technologies have been widespread. It’s my responsibility to remain aware of these developments and determine which are right to bring to the practice. Patients trust me to deliver the best, most comfortable care, and continuing dental education ensures that happens.

Each year I complete many courses, online and at conferences and lectures. I also remain current through various dental journals and other publications. By constantly expanding our services and honing my skills, I’m able to provide much of the care my patients need, so they don’t need to be referred to specialists.

Giving Back

I enjoy volunteering with the Smile Mobile, which helps local children that have dental concerns and provides smile-saving care. Our office is also actively involved in providing dental education in our public schools. In addition, I’ve traveled overseas to deliver dental care and aid in setting up dental clinics.

Personal Life

My childhood was spent in the Yakima Valley of Washington and in Central California. I now live in Orting with my wife, Barbara. We moved here several years ago from Tacoma to be closer to the community I serve.

Barbara enjoys quilting, painting, and gardening. We’re proud parents of three adult children and have two amazing grandchildren! Our home is shared with two dogs and a cat; the cat was rescued from the streets of Tacoma.

When I’m not caring for patients, I enjoy bike riding on the Orting Trail, as well as hiking and traveling. We make it to the Washington coast a couple times a year and in 2015 Barbara and I went to Italy and Albania. In the quieter times, I like reading and writing, studying languages, and keeping up with world affairs.
